St. Ivo of Kelmartin Biography
St. Ivo of Kelmartin was a 13th century saint who is revered in the Catholic Church for his holiness and devotion to God. He was born in the village of Kelmartin, in the county of Cornwall, England, in the year 1253.
Ivo received a good education, and was known for his intelligence and his ability to speak several languages. After completing his studies, he was ordained as a priest and began serving in the Church.
Ivo was deeply committed to helping the poor and the marginalized, and he devoted much of his time and energy to charitable works. He was also known for his kindness and compassion, and he was loved and respected by all who knew him.
Despite his many good qualities, Ivo was not always well received by the Church authorities of his time. Ivo’s efforts were eventually recognized and appreciated, and he was canonized as a saint by the Catholic Church in the year 1347. Today, he is remembered and honored as a model of holiness and devotion, and his feast day is celebrated on May 19th.
In addition to his charitable works and his commitment to justice and reform within the Church, Ivo is also remembered for his devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary. He was known to have a special devotion to Our Lady, and he is often depicted in art and literature as having a close relationship with her.
