St. Paraskevia Biography
St. Paraskevia, also known as St. Parasceva of the Balkans, was a martyr and saint in the Eastern Orthodox and Roman Catholic churches. She is believed to have lived in the 4th century in what is now modern-day Bulgaria.
According to tradition, Paraskevia was a young woman who lived a life of piety and devotion to God. She was known for her charity towards the poor and her compassion towards those in need.
During the persecution of Christians under the Roman Empire, Paraskevia was arrested and imprisoned for her faith. Despite the threats and intimidation of her captors, she refused to renounce her belief in Jesus Christ and remained steadfast in her faith.
Paraskevia was subjected to torture and other forms of suffering in an attempt to break her spirit, but she remained resolute and steadfast in her faith. She was eventually martyred for her refusal to deny Jesus and her commitment to her faith.
St. Paraskevia is remembered and venerated as a powerful example of faith and courage in the face of adversity. She is a patron saint of Bulgaria and is invoked for protection and intercession.
