Saint Angela Merici was an Italian nun and educator who lived in the 16th century. She was born in Desenzano del Garda, Italy, in 1474. Merici founded the Ursuline order of nuns, which was dedicated to the education of girls. She died in Brescia, Italy, in 1540. She is the patron saint of teachers, students, and women’s education.
