Saint Apollonia was a Christian martyr who lived in the 3rd century AD. She was born in Alexandria, Egypt, and was a dentist. Apollonia was arrested by the Roman authorities for refusing to renounce her Christian faith. She was tortured and then had her teeth pulled out. She died in Alexandria in 249 AD. She is the patron saint of dentists, toothache, and those who suffer from oral diseases.
