Saint Bernard of Clairvaux was a French Cistercian monk, priest, and Doctor of the Church. He was born in Fontaines-lès-Dijon, France, in 1090. Bernard was a prolific writer and preacher. He was also a skilled diplomat and mediator. Bernard died in Clairvaux, France, in 1153. He is the patron saint of farmers, builders, and beekeepers.
