Saint Charles Borromeo, an Italian cardinal and archbishop who was a leading figure in the Counter-Reformation. He was born in Arona, Italy, in 1538. Charles was a gifted administrator and reformer. He died in Milan, Italy, in 1584. He is the patron saint of seminarians, plague victims, and skin diseases.
