Saint Damian of Molokai was a Roman Catholic priest who dedicated his life to serving the people of Molokai, a Hawaiian island that was quarantined for leprosy in the 19th century. He was born in France in 1840. Damian volunteered to serve the people of Molokai in 1873. He died of leprosy in 1889. He is the patron saint of people with Hansen’s disease (leprosy).
