Saint Dymphna was a 7th-century Irish princess who was martyred for her faith. She was born in Ireland in c. 600. Dymphna was a devout Christian who refused to marry a pagan man. She was killed by her father in Gheel, Belgium, in 620 AD. She is the patron saint of people with mental illness, epilepsy, and nervous disorders.
