Saint Elizabeth of Hungary was a Hungarian princess who was married to the Landgrave of Thuringia. She was born in Bratislava, Slovakia, in 1207. Elizabeth was a devout Christian who was known for her charity and her love of the poor. She died in Marburg, Germany, in 1231. She is the patron saint of Hungary, the poor, and nurses.
