Saint Florian was a Roman soldier who was martyred for his faith in the 4th century. He was born in Noricum, Austria, in c. 250. Florian was a devout Christian who refused to renounce his faith during a time of persecution. He was killed by drowning in the Enns River in 304 AD. He is the patron saint of firefighters, brewers, and chimney sweeps.
