Saint Genesius of Rome was a Roman actor who was martyred for his faith in the 4th century. He was born in Rome, Italy, in c. 290. Genesius was a devout Christian who was arrested for refusing to take part in a pagan play. He was killed by beheading in Rome in 303 AD. He is the patron saint of actors, comedians, and theater performers.
