Saint Jacob of Nisibis was a 5th-century Syriac bishop who is considered one of the most important figures in the history of the Syriac Orthodox Church. He was born in Nisibis, Mesopotamia, in c. 451. Jacob was a gifted theologian and writer. He died in Edessa, Mesopotamia, in c. 521. He is the patron saint of the Syriac Orthodox Church.
