Saint James the Greater was one of the Twelve Apostles of Jesus Christ. He was born in Galilee, Israel, in c. 1 AD. James was a fisherman who was called by Jesus to follow him. He was one of the first apostles to die for his faith. He was beheaded in Jerusalem in c. 44 AD. He is the patron saint of Spain, pilgrims, and travelers.
