St. John Neumann was a 19th-century American Roman Catholic priest and bishop. He was born in Prachatice, Bohemia, in 1811. Neumann was a gifted preacher and administrator. He was also a gifted writer and theologian. He died in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 1860. He is the patron saint of immigrants, orphans, and the homeless.
