Saint Rita of Cascia was a 15th-century Italian Augustinian nun who is known for her suffering and her devotion to the Holy Cross. She was born in Roccaporena, Italy, in 1381. Rita was a gifted healer and a compassionate woman. She died in Cascia, Italy, in 1457. She is the patron saint of impossible causes, difficult marriages, and those who are suffering from abuse.
