St. Viator of Bergamo

St. Viator of Bergamo was a 4th-century Christian saint who is venerated by the Catholic Church. St. Viator is the patron saint of Bergamo, Italy. The feast of St. Viator is celebrated on November 4th.

According to tradition, Viator was a bishop in the city of Bergamo in the 4th century. He is remembered for his strong faith and his commitment to spreading the gospel and promoting the growth of the Church in the region.

Viator is also remembered for his efforts to defend the Church against persecution and to support Christians who were facing persecution for their faith. He is credited with performing a number of miracles and with helping to convert many people to Christianity.

St. Viator and the Hungry Traveler

One story that is often told about Viator is that he was once visited by a group of poor and hungry travelers who were seeking help. Viator welcomed the travelers into his home and shared what little he had with them, offering them food and shelter.

As the travelers sat down to eat, Viator noticed that there was not enough food to go around. Determined to feed all of the travelers, Viator prayed to God and asked for His help. Miraculously, the food multiplied and there was enough for everyone to eat.

The story of St. Viator and the hungry travelers is often told as a reminder of the importance of charitable works and of trusting in God’s provision. It is a reminder that, through faith and prayer, we can overcome even the most difficult challenges and find ways to serve others.

Prayer to St. Viator

Dear St. Viator, holy bishop and servant of Christ, we turn to you today and ask for your intercession.

You dedicated your life to spreading the gospel and to serving the Church. Grant us the grace to follow your example of faith and devotion, and help us to always seek to grow closer to God.

We pray that you will help us to defend our faith and to stand firm in the face of persecution. Help us to be instruments of peace and love in the world, and to always strive to serve others with compassion and kindness.

We ask that you intercede for us with the Lord, that we may be guided by His love and mercy. We pray that you will help us to grow in our faith and to live lives that are pleasing to God. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
