Bring the Stations of the Cross to Your Community

Thank you for considering ChristianApostles.com, the largest online Christian goods store, for your upcoming Stations of the Cross Prayer Walk project. Praying the Stations of the Cross as a parish or at your own home is a powerful way to deepen your faith. Here is an overview of the preferred Stations of the Cross set as well as pricing and manufacturing information.

The Stations of the Cross set consists of three separate pieces: the shrine, the image plates, and the post for the shrine. Our shrines are produced in Ohio, made of solid cedar, and treated to withstand outdoor conditions and inclement weather.  The overall size of each shrine is 15″ wide x 19.5″ tall. The shrines come in walnut or cedar stain and have a cross at the pinnacle of the shrine. Images of these beautiful shrines in both cedar and walnut stain are below. The set of 14 shrines include one set of 14 Stations of the Cross images of your choice. One set of 14 Stations of the Cross image plates is included with the purchase of the shrine set.

Image Plates

The metal image plate on each shrine is removable with tools, enabling image customization either during different liturgical seasons or to alternate between Stations of the Cross devotions. All of the image plates are 8” x 12” and is manufactured in Ohio.

The image plates are comprised of a semi-gloss vinyl print mounted on ACM, a material commonly used in the small business world for outdoor signage because of its durability. By using ACM in devotional shrines and prayer walks, we consider this common form of outdoor signage to be baptized with a renewed purpose and character. ACM plates are UV-resistant and guaranteed for 3-5 years of perfect image fidelity with minimal fading. If you are able to face the stations to the North or South, many more years of perfect image fidelity are possible! Nonetheless, all things in this world will fade with time, and even the ideal conditions of minimal sunlight will eventually result in fading, even if this is decades down the road.

Bertucci Stations of the Cross

The Bertucci Stations of the Cross set is named after the unidentified artist who painted the images in the late 18th century, thought to perhaps be the obscure Italian painter Nicola Bertucci.  Characteristic of the Italian, late baroque style, the Bertucci Stations of the Cross feature lush textures and vivid coloration, particularly in the deep blue sky and the vibrant red robe worn by Christ.  With the Blessed Mother taking over as the central figure in stations thirteen and fourteen, these Stations of the Cross offer an additional element of Marian devotion and meditation that is unique to this set.

Emmerich Stations of the Cross

The Emmerich Stations of the Cross set is named after Blessed Anne Catherine Emmerich, the German nun and mystic who wrote the highly influential meditation The Dolorous Passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ.  This set of stations was painted in the German style by an unknown artist in the late 19th century.  Recognizable for its illuminated golden halos around the heads of Christ and His followers, as well as for the rich contrast and shadowing throughout the set, the Emmerich Stations of the Cross convey the beauty and sacrifice of Jesus’ Passion with a blend of modern and traditional styles.

Additional Devotional Image Plates

Additional devotional image plates are available, allowing you the opportunity to change the images throughout the year, such as featuring devotions to Mary during the Month of May. This provides an opportunity to routinely remind the congregation that the stations are on the campus, as well as educate the community on various forms of devotion and prayers.

Stake Posts

In addition to the shrine and image plates, a stake post is required to display the set. Stake posts can be purchased through ChristianApostles.com or may be custom made by a volunteer in your congregation. Our Stations of the Cross wooden stake set is made of solid cedar and treated to withstand outdoor conditions and inclement weather. Shrine posts come in walnut or cedar stain to match the shrines. The posts measure 96”(8 feet). The set of stakes include the necessary screws for mounting onto the shrines, which makes your outdoor Stations of the Cross set up easy.
