Saint Eusebius of Vercelli

History Born in Sardinia, Italy in 283, Saint Eusebius of Vercelli was the first bishop of Vercelli. His feast day is August 2. Saint Eusebius of Vercelli was the first Western bishop to unite monastic life with the ministry. In 355, he served as the representative of Pope Liberiusat the Council of Milan and refused to sign the condemnation of Athanasius for his attacks against Arianism. Eusebius was exiled for his support of Athanasius. The local Arians would steal his belongings, starve  him, strip him half naked, and drag him through the streets into his inevitable imprisionment in a small and dirty cell. Constantius’ successor Julian the Apostate later pardoned Eusebius the other exiled bishops in 361. Reflection What do you stand for?
