She was born in the town of Sint-Truiden, in present-day Belgium, in the 12th century. Little is known about her early life, but it is believed that she may have suffered from a mental illness.

According to legend, Christina had a near-death experience at the age of 21. During her funeral mass, she suddenly sat up and began to fly around the church, stopping to rest on the rafters. She then began to levitate and fly around the church, speaking in tongues and revealing knowledge of secret sins of the congregation.

From that moment on, Christina became known for her unique spiritual practices, which included extreme mortifications such as lying on beds of hot coals, being buried alive, and standing in freezing water for hours at a time. She also claimed to have the ability to levitate and to understand the languages of birds and animals.

Despite her reputation for eccentric behavior, Christina was widely respected for her deep spirituality and her ability to help others. She became known as a “”wandering wonderworker”” and traveled throughout Belgium, Germany, and the Netherlands, performing miracles and preaching repentance. She also had a reputation as a great counsellor and many people came to her for help with spiritual and personal problems.

Christina also had a deep devotion to the Eucharist, and many miracles were attributed to her while she was distributing Holy Communion or praying before the Eucharist. Christina was known to even subsist solely on the Eucharist and refused any other sustenance.

St. Christina was never formally canonized by the Church but her cult, or the devotion of the faithful to her, was never discouraged by the Church authorities and she was widely venerated as a Saint. Her feast day is celebrated on 24th of June.

Christina’s unique spiritual practices and her reputation as a wonderworker have made her one of the most unusual and fascinating figures in the history of Christian mysticism. Christina’s story continues to be an inspiration and a source of fascination for many people today, who admire her deep faith and her willingness to take on extreme mortifications to show devotion to God.
