St. Remigius passed away in the year 533 AD. He was canonized by the Catholic Church as a saint and is remembered as one of the greatest bishops of his time. His feast day is celebrated on October 1st.

By his zealous endeavors he promoted the Catholic Faith in Burgundy, and completely crushed idolatry and the Arian heresy in the French dominions. St. Remigius died in 533, during the ninety-fourth year of his age. The holiness of Saint Remigius’ life and death was proved by many miracles which later occurred. The holy Archbishop was buried at Rheims. In 852, and again in 1646, the Saint’s body was found incorrupt.
