St. Bonaventure is one of the glories of the Seraphic Order of St. Francis. He was the friend and companion of St. Thomas Aquinas, and ranks with him among the six chief Doctors of the Catholic Church.

One of St. John Bosco’s first pupils was Dominic Savio, who was born in Riva, northern Italy, on April 2, 1842.

There is no record of the earthly life of St. Philomena. Her remains were accidentally discovered in 1802 in an underground cemetery on the road from Rome to Ancona as excavators were clearing away some fallen sand.

It was Saint Peter Claver, the slave of the slaves forever, as he named himself when he made his religious profession in the Society of Jesus. His life was one of heroic love, of unreserved sacrifice, of supreme mortification. Peter was born at Verdu, near Barcelona, Spain, in June, 1581.
